The people motivated Essay Example for Free

The individuals propelled Essay There are a wide range of inspiration scholars who each with there own hypothesis regarding the manner in which individuals are roused, however individuals really act the manner in which these speculations disclose to us they do or are the individuals propelled by different things. Elton Mayo led a few trials in 1927-32 and found that better lighting equalled high efficiency. He set up to gatherings of laborers; these incorporated an experimental group and furthermore a benchmark group. At the point when he turned up the light in-bunch one, however not in the other profitability rose in the two gatherings. While in further analyses he decreased the lighting to its unique level and turned the illuminating in the other gathering profitability despite everything rose in the two gatherings. The trials indicated no connection so Elton Mayo changed the factors inside his analysis. Working with a gathering of ladies, the experimenters made various changes, rest breaks, no rest breaks, free suppers, no free dinners, more hours in the work-day/work-week, less hours in the work-day/work-week. Their efficiency went up at each change. At long last the ladies were returned to their unique hours and conditions, and they set an efficiency precedent. The explanation behind this was the two gatherings were being counseled and laborers created cohesiveness as a social gathering. This was for the most part because of laborers detecting having a place and the UN-weighted want for more significant salary and the requirement for some to arrive at profitability targets. This indicated laborers were roused by the carrot and stick hypothesis that individuals would be spurred by rewards. A case of these thoughts being utilized in business today is the Volvo plant in Uddevalla, opened in 1989, was intended to permit laborers to work in groups of 8-10. Each group constructed a total vehicle and settled on choices about creation. It was discovered that the non-appearance rates at the Uddevalla arrived at the midpoint of 8 percent, contrasted with 25 percent in their Gothenburg plant, which utilized a creation line framework. Demonstrating that laborers performed better when they felt having a place with a gathering. Frederick Taylor adopted a progressively logical strategy to the manner in which he felt individuals were persuaded, yet simply like numerous different scholars he accepted individuals were propelled by cash. He accepted that whenever yield could be connected to pay at that point yield could rise. So piece rates were presented, a thought that implied the higher your yield the higher your pay would be. Anyway at the time this wouldnt fill in the same number of organizations didnt have the executives and therefor the representatives were not in every case certain about what to do, so Taylor prescribed they ought to have supervisors to have command over crafted by the workers and therefor make the business increasingly productive. This is additionally a carrot and stick yet the laborers would be persuaded to get a more noteworthy pay.

Globalization: As indicated by modelski et al,(2007) â€Å"globalization† as (the procedure of) â€Å"emergence of foundation of planetary scope† As prepared by Isard (2005) in globalization and universal money related framework. Envision the world twenty years prior when there were no PCs, no PCs, no cell phones the correspondence was moderate and as a result of not having the web office there was a constrained correspondence not for the individuals inside the nation however universally too, as we do messages today which takes just couple of moments to arrive at the beneficiary there was no idea like that and the messages sending and getting was reliant on days and weeks, this everything is changed now in view of globalization. As indicated by J.Ali (2000) â€Å"Firms over the world have perceived that globalization is a reality that makes boundless chances while heightening contenders and threats† Globalization is the combination between the business sectors, countries, states and advances it is the way which empowers the people, companies, associations, countries and states to arrive at the world simpler, less expensive, quicker and more secure than any time in recent memory, it influences everybody like the web has empowered everybody to interface with one another whenever and to become familiar with the parts of any culture on the planet, presently the exchange is a lot simpler and is broadened, the thoughts are being shared among all individuals of earth the way of life are being refined the globalization is overcoming markets and catching hearts. The advancement of transport connections and systems equipped for moving merchandise, rapidly and moderately modest is likewise one of the principle purposes for the development of globalization, the delivery transportation has improved without question and the item are being moved to each other nations in massive sum. The headway in innovation and correspondence made the chance of moving the monetary capitals because of which individuals were pulled in to do organizations in different nations too, the creation cost isn't same for any item everywhere throughout the world such a large number of organizations needed to introduce their creation plants in those nations which are progressively less expensive which tends the worldwide market again to rise. Other then these each business needs their clients to be fulfilled by their item for that reason the criticism is vital the input is being gotten by the organizations by having the online input structures where the proposals and suggestions are been given by the shoppers for the item. Procedure of Globalization and Effects To clarify the impacts of globalization and the procedure we are including a contextual investigation of a global organization that how the organization is taking care of the issues with respect to the clients around the world. A Siemens contextual investigation: Meeting worldwide and nearby needs A Siemens contextual analysis: Meeting worldwide and nearby needs by times100 As readed by Gills,bThompson (2006) globalization and worldwide history: Worldwide organizations are the specialists of globalization the entrance of item from everywhere throughout the world is a generally excellent blessing given by the web to the organizations who needs to have progressively potential clients. In any case the world has become a worldwide town now the exchange, correspondence and transportation is getting simpler as the new developments are being made by the data innovation. Conflict During the Stages of Psychosocial Development

Conflict During the Stages of Psychosocial Development Student Resources Print Conflict During the Stages of Psychosocial Development The 8 Stages We All Go Through According to Erik Erikson By Kendra Cherry facebook twitter Kendra Cherry, MS, is an author, educational consultant, and speaker focused on helping students learn about psychology. Learn about our editorial policy Kendra Cherry Medically reviewed by on January 27, 2020 Psychosocial Development Overview Trust vs. Mistrust Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt Initiative vs. Guilt Industry vs. Inferiority Identity vs. Confusion Intimacy vs. Isolation Generativity vs. Stagnation Integrity vs. Despair BSIP/UIG / Universal Images Group / Getty Images Throughout our lifetimes, we all go through specific stages of psychosocial development that can contribute or impede our happiness and emotional and psychological health. So goes a theory set forth by Erik Erikson, an American psychologist and psychoanalyst who was born in Germany in 1902. Erikson died in 1994, leaving behind not only his eight-stage theory of psychological development but also the term identity crisis. At each stage of psychosocial development, each of us faces a specific conflict, Erikson proposed. Heres a brief look at these stages, the conflict that defines each one, and how its likely to help shape mental health. Stage 1 Trust versus mistrust. In the earliest stages of childhood, were faced with the question of who in our lives we can count on to care for us and who we cant. Children who learn that they can trust and depend on parents and other caregivers emerge from the first stage of psychosocial development with a sense of security and safety. Those who arent able to trust their caregivers may be left with the feeling that the world is unreliable. Stage 2 Autonomy versus shame and doubt. As children become increasingly independent, being given the opportunity to be self-reliantâ€"in other words, to not have to depend on others for everythingâ€"are likely to develop a strong sense of independence and autonomy. When parents and caregivers do everything for a child, she may be left feeling ashamed or doubtful of her abilities. Stage 3 Initiative versus guilt. When kids are allowed to engage in self-directed activities and play, they learn how to take the initiative for their own growth and development. Children who successfully resolve this conflict develop a sense of purpose, while those who do not manage this conflict well may be left with feelings of guilt. Stage 4 Industry versus inferiority. School and peers play a major role in the outcome of this conflict. Kids who get along well with other kids their age and who do well in school will emerge from this stage feeling competent. Those who arent able to successfully navigate social interactions and academic challenges may end up feeling inferior and lack self-confidence. Stage 5 Identity and role confusion. This stage of psychosocial development occurs during the teen years when kids begin to explore new roles as they approach adulthood. Handling this conflict well leads to a strong sense of personal identity. Those who struggle at this stage may be left feeling confused about who they are and what they want to do with their lives. Stage 6 Intimacy versus isolation. Forming strong bonds with other people, particularly romantic attachments, plays a vital role in resolving this conflict of early adulthood. Those who succeed are able to develop strong and lasting relationships while those who fail can end up feeling isolated and lonely. Stage 7 Generativity versus stagnation. People want to feel theyve contributed something to the world, and so successfully navigating this conflict involves accomplishments like raising a family, succeeding at work, and volunteering in the community. During this stage of middle adulthood, people who arent able to do this often feel disconnected from the rest of the world. Stage 8 Integrity versus despair. During this last stage of Eriksons theory of psychosocial development, older people looking back on their lives who feel satisfied with all theyve experienced and accomplished will emerge with a sense of wisdom and satisfaction. Those who have regrets and who arent able to recognize their successes or appreciate the richness of the lives theyve lived may end up feeling bitter.

Meet Ricky Persson of Gap Medics [1:40] Gap Medics overview  [2:16] Gap Medics coordinates short term shadowing placements in the health professions for high school and college students. The placements are in 1-week blocks; most students sign up for 1-8 weeks. How does it work?  [3:40] Students apply on the Gap Medics website—choose the destination they want to go to, the type of health professional they want to shadow, and when they want to go and for how long. The program assigns mentors based on students’ interests. Where in the world?  [4:48] Currently there are programs in Africa (Tanzania), Europe (Poland and Croatia), America (Dominican Republic), and Thailand. Who are the participants?  [5:45] Most participants are from the US, UK, and Canada, but there are increasing numbers from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The language of instruction is English (mentors will translate for students). How much does it cost?  [6:37] A 1-week placement in Tanzania or the Dominican Republic is $1740 (though if you stay longer than a week, the average weekly cost generally goes down). What do the placements involve?  [7:30] It’s a hands-off shadowing experience—an observational learning experience, in accordance with AAMC guidelines. Students may attend meetings, rounds, observe procedures, etc. Any opportunities for cultural exploration or touring/travel?  [8:45] Some students may stay longer to travel. There are often opportunities to attend cultural performances, explore restaurants, etc. A typical week on a placement [10:15] Students are met at the airport and taken to the Gap Medics house to settle in. They’re given an orientation and intro to the area. The shadowing week is M-F—generally 23 hours. If they stay longer than 1 week, they can shadow a new specialty each week. Each day, they’ll have the opportunity to go out to dinner, explore cultural offerings, etc. Security issues [11:33] The destinations are vetted carefully, and they monitor all travel alerts/warnings. The houses where students stay are secure and in safe neighborhoods. And the program adheres to AAMC guidelines for time spent in the hospital, to protect students and patients. Feedback from alumni who are in med school  [13:22]   There’s an involved alumni community, and they keep in touch with their stories about applying to med school. What about people who decide—after shadowing—that med school’s not for them?  [14:30] Shadowing helps people make an educated decision, so this is a good thing. Some students also decide to pursue a different type of health career (than their original goal) after shadowing. Where is Gap Medics going in the future?  [15:42] Just added new specialties and some new locations—including a program in the Dominican Republic on medical Spanish. How will this experience help pre-meds’ applications?  [16:45] It helps people understand and articulate their motivation for pursuing a health career. People also gain experiences in medical education, crossing cultural barriers, and patient care, which are often meaningful experiences to draw on for essays and interviews. Role Models Influence Us As Humans - 1830 Words

Role models influence us as humans. We use our parents, community leaders, and even celebrities to shape ourselves in a similar way to them. Media, like a role model, influences society. Also, media, which society creates, is also the tool that shapes and moulds it. The theory that media (technology) shapes society – technological determinism – is introduced by Canadian scholars Harold Innis and Marshall. Though this is a technologically determinist way of looking at communication, the different modes of communication (media) – oral, literate, and electronic –influence society through the way we store knowledge, through the manner in which we share knowledge, and through the way we connect with each other socially. First, the oral mode of communication influenced society through the way we store knowledge. In an oral society, particular members of society store important knowledge. For instance, in First Nations communities in Canada the Elders store their history and tradition and share it with the future generations. In the book Aboriginal Perspectives, the Kainai Board of Education, who educates the Nitsitapi tribal members in Alberta, states that â€Å"past generations depend upon Elders to pass along their stories, and future generations depend on the young to learn and remember the Elder’s knowledge† (KBE 50). Immigration During The United States - 1662 Words

Tara Paddyaker PS1113 Roni O’Dell Word: 1662 Immigration Immigration has played a huge role in settling America. Once known as â€Å"the melting pot† America has a wider diverse population. The history of immigration is what built America and created that diversity. Over the last 150 years, immigration laws have been enacted and changed to meet the demands of the influx of immigrants. Both Republicans and Democrats see immigration as a political battlefield. Each party blames the other for the lack of cooperation and lack of progress in passing legislation. Obama has used immigration as one of his main platforms in his campaign to become president. Obama’s immigration policies have shocked America recently in the news. Lastly, I will discuss my views on immigration and what I think our politicians should do to improve on policy and reform. Immigration in the United States is as older than the United States. When American was being settled there was open immigration, until 1875 when the Supreme Court declared immigration regulation federal responsibility. The first Immigration Service was established in 1891 due to an increase in immigration in 1880. The â€Å"Great Wave† occurred between 1900 to 1920 when 24 million immigrants arrived. Essay on The Projection of Hamlet’s Emotions Through Adult...

The Projection of Hamlet’s Emotions Through Adult Sexuality In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the question of sexuality and the role of women becomes a substantial component in analyzing Hamlet’s character and behavior. The motif of misogyny occurs intermittently throughout the play shown largely through Hamlets relationships with both Gertrude and Ophelia. Clearly hurt by Gertrude’s marriage to Claudius so soon after his father’s death Hamlet becomes cynical of women and surmises that they are all immoral creatures. He develops a particular obsession with female sexuality and incestuous relations. Hamlet forms a connection between women and immorality, thus using his his mother’s incestous actions as a basis to surmise that all women are†¦show more content†¦The very fact that his mother did not mourn such a grand man as his father made Hamlet feel as if she had betrayed not only her husband, but him as well. He personifies her as a beast, an animal that could not even properly mourn someone that s he had once called husband. The way Hamlet addresses his mother shows his cold reception towards her,â€Å"You are the Queen, your husbands brothers wife, / And, would it were not so, you are my mother. (3.4. 16-17). He refuses to acknowledge his mother as anything other than King Hamlets wife. Hamlet chooses to refer to her as his father’s brother’s wife, not allowing Claudius to become relevant in his speech. Hamlet wishes that Gertrude were no longer his mother, for she has brought shame and grief to his already faltering soul. Her relationship with Claudius has directly affected Hamlet not only in his emotional state, but in his physical being. The thought of incestous occurences happening in the marital bed between Claudius and Gertrude brings only nausea and anger to Hamlet. The very fact that this union has occurred has poisoned his royal lineage. Yet the only emotions Hamlet can express unabashedly are those of disgust and grief that have been brought upon h im by his mother. The amount of pathos in Hamlet’s speech becomes heightened as he becomes increasingly obsessed

Question 1 (a) Simons (1999, pg 768) describes intrinsic motivation as â€Å"desire to engage in behaviours or actions in anticipation of internally- generated rewards such as personal feelings of accomplishment† and extrinsic motivation Simons describes as (1999, pg 766) â€Å"desire to engage in behaviours or actions in anticipation of tangible rewards, such as money or promotion†. Extrinsic motivation is created by financial incentives. An incentive as Simons (1999, 767) describes as being â€Å"a reward or payment that is used to motivate performance. We will write a custom essay sample on B321 Tma 02 or any similar topic only for you Order Now The two types of motivation mentioned above can be used to design a rewards package for the product centre managers. First I will discuss intrinsic motivation; this type of motivation is â€Å"from within† (as Simon states (1999, pg 245)) rather than external. Managers can improve intrinsic motivation, Simon’s (1999, pg 245) states â€Å"they can make people proud of where they work† and also â€Å"they can involve subordinates in the goal setting process to increase the likelihood that subordinates will see the goals as legitimate. If subordinates are included in the process of setting goals-asked to provide input and information –they are more likely to feel that the goals are legitimate and work more diligently to achieve them†. The motivation is aligned to Air Tex Aviation’s performance goals, which are, the granting of credit but managers have performance goals set by Ted, monthly charges against their departmental profits, managers are more likely to stick to the rules set by Ted because they are in control of credit. Also, the purchasing of capital equipment and operating supplies but having predetermined limits this gives the managers a sense of control and able to make decisions without having to ask permission whenever a purchase was to be made. Moreover product managers are allowed to set policies such as pricing for products or services. They also have the power to hire, fire and administer the salary. Product centre managers can rewarded because they have the responsibility to do the above and are free to make choices within set boundaries. Other rewards can be meaningfulness managers may feel they are doing something important. Also another reward is having the competence, managers can feel satisfied. Lastly, another reward is having the sense of progress, product centre managers will feel they have gained something. I will now discuss the extrinsic incentives, Simons (1999 pg 245-246) states â€Å"financial performance awards-typically in the form of bonuses-can be linked explicitly to the achievement of goals and targets. Since incentives are to motivate performance Ted has allocated 10% bonus to managers. (b) Simon’s four levers of control can be used in the implementation of strategy for Air Tex Aviation. Simon’s states â€Å"Strategic control is not achieved through new and unique performance measurement and control system, but through belief systems, boundary systems, diagnostic control systems and interactive control systems working together to control both the implementation of intended strategies and the formation of emergent strategies†. Simon’s (1999, pg 763) describes belief systems as â€Å"explicit set of organisational definitions that senior managers communicate formally and reinforce systematically to provide basic values, purpose, and direction for the organisation†. Figure 14-2 Levers of control (Simon’s pg, 305) shows belief systems as â€Å"strategy as Perspective† and â€Å"Obtaining Commitment to the Grand Purpose, this in the context of Airtex Aviation are firstly Ted and Frank have taken control of the business, Ted is President and chief operating officer and Frank is chairmanship. They also have a vision to grow at a rate of 20% per year for the first five years. To implement strategy Ted and Frank decentralised authority and made each operating activity a profit centre and grouped them by departments. Departments were given authority over his operations. This creates shared beliefs and missions within the business. Employees will be more motivated because of the more control they have and they will have the sense of belonging to the business. Simon’s (1999, pg 764) describes boundary systems as â€Å"explicit statements embedded in formal information systems that define and communicate specific risks to be avoided†. Boundary Systems in the situation of Air Tex Aviation are, Simon’s (1999, pg 297) described as â€Å"rules, limits and proscriptions†. Rules in Airtex Aviation are decentralising the business, installing a control system. Limits introduced are profit centre’s having the authority to buy operating supplies and capital equipment with purchase order limits. A reason for limits is described by Simon’s (1999, pg 297) as â€Å"to allow individual creativity within defined limits of freedom†. Proscriptions include removing Sarah Arthur and her accounting system as it was not working and introduce a control system that support’s the management and provides information needed in order to make decisions. The accounting system before gave employees a lack of motivation because they were not involved in the decision making process. Also Simon’s (1999, pg 279) states â€Å"communicate standards of business conduct for all employees†, that’s what the new control system does, involves all employees. My recommendations to AirTex Aviation would be use all four levers of control together as one can’t work without the others. Also I would recommend the company when financially able to perhaps train managers, as most employees have only studied up to high school. Another recommendation would be for the department managers to set out goals for their own departments, use a balance scorecard or something similar. Moreover, I would also recommend the business owners to draw up perhaps a mission statement or a statement of purpose and distribute it to each manager, so they know the objective and purpose of the business. Overall, the owners have turned the business around and should carry on as they have done so. Question 2 (a) In the article by Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994), most of the interviewees agreed, net present value is superior to payback. I will summarise the views of the five interviewees below. Adam a lecturer was one those that thought that NPV is better than PB. Adam does however think that payback, in Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994) â€Å"works fine for simple, straightforward projects†, but does say how useless it is and NPV gives the right answer and considers time value for money. He also thinks that NPV has no disadvantage whatsoever. He also goes on to say that calculating NPV is easy because of the use of computers. His academic group also agree with him that NPV is superior. Frank chief accountant was one of those interviewed who was against NPV and suspicious of it, describing it as â€Å"dangerous† Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994). He has been using PB for many years and says it is simple to use and NPV is complicated, time consuming and â€Å"conveys spurious accuracy† Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994). He also says that NPV is hard for managers to understand they prefer PB. Simon a senior finance manager thought no appraisal method has â€Å"importance† but believes â€Å"NPV only relevant with high interest rates long time periods†, Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994). He believes that information given to managers should be what they want and accountants should help in making investment decisions not decide which appraisal method to use. Judy a junior finance manager prefers to use NPV rather than PB because it considers time value for money which is important in her view. She also says â€Å"NPV gives ability to alter assumptions identify different outcomes† Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994). She has very strong views for NPV and thinks managers should use this technique only. Managers have studied MBA’s so thinks it will be easy for them to understand. But â€Å"She fears that she may be ‘a victim of my training’ which might have been academic ‘brainwashing’†, Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994). Len a finance officer also says net present value is superior to payback. He doesn’t agree with Adam’s suggestion that â€Å"PB figures might be adjusted to reflect more clearly the results of NPV analysis† Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D, because of ethical rules. (1994). He too like Adam finds calculating NBV easy because of the use of computers. The interviewee’s which I mostly agree with are Len, Judy and Adam this is because, they believe that NPV is superior to PB. Also NPV considers time value of money and is easy to calculate because of the use of computers. I also agree with Judy that managers should be taught NPV because PB is simple and as Adam said NPV should be used for minor projects. (b) Pure reasoning in my view would be coming up with answers which would be the norm and what most people would agree to. An example in B321 case studies would have to be that of Classic Pen Company: Developing an ABC Model. Jane Dempsey came up with information by using methods such as activity based costing used by accountants. Overall, I think pure reasoning would have the most influence on someone’s decision making process this is because most people adhere to the norm they don’t want to be seen as deviant. Also most people would be scared to do otherwise just in case the decision doesn’t turn out to be as expected, which may get them into a lot of trouble. (c) My views have changed since reading the article because, before I thought that calculating net present value for investment appraisal was complex and very complicated but both Adam and Len find it easy because of the use of computers. Also before reading the article I thought payback was completely useless and unreliable for investment appraisal but as Adam points out it is fine to use on simple projects. Also another benefit for NPV is that it â€Å"gives ability to alter assumptions identify different outcomes†, Jones, T. C. and Dugdale, D. (1994) as Judy points out. Both appraisal methods have their benefits, net present value has more benefits overall. Question 3 (a) Total machine hours: 880,000 ? 44,000 = 20 Game Pies: 20 ? 4,000 = 80,000 ? 2000 = ? 40 per batch Pork Pies: 20 ? 40,000 = 800,000 ? 20,000 = ? 40 per batch (b) Set up related: 420,000 ? 200 = 2,100 Pork Pies: 2,100 ? 120 = 252,000 ? 20,000 = ? 12. 60 Game Pies: 2,100 ? 80 = 168,000 ? 2,000 = ? 84 Purchasing related: 240,000 ? 480 = 500 Pork Pies: 500 ? 320 = 160,000 ? 20,000 = ? 8 Game Pies: 500? 160 = 80,000 ? 2,000 = ? 40 Volume related: 44,000 + 88,000 = 132,000 220,000 ? 32,000 = 1. 67 Pork Pies: 1. 67 ? 120,000 = ? 200,400 ? 20,000 = ? 10. 02 Game Pies: 1. 67 ? 12,000 = ? 20,040 ? 2000 = ? 10. 02 Cost centre costs for pork pies per batch: ? 12. 60 + ? 8 + ? 10. 02 = ? 30. 62 Cost centre costs for game pies per batch: ? 84 + ? 40 + ? 10. 02 = ? 134. 02 (c) The difference with activity based costing and traditional costing is, firstly traditional costing only assigns overhead c ost: machine hours or direct labour hours to products. â€Å"I know what! A sportscaster or even better; an ESPN analyst!† I exclaimed thinking to myself what I wanted to be when I grow up. I was trying to think about what kind of job that I would love, not work as hard as other regular jobs, get paid a lot and I found all of that with ESPN’s â€Å"Sportscenter†. I mean I watch sportscenter every morning, I love sports, I like the cameras and I love to speak in front of large crowds! Wait a second now, this could just be a phase because I remember when I was four and I wanted to be a firefighter, when I was six or seven I wanted to be in the NBA or play in the Major league’s, when I was ten I wanted to be a Real Estate agent (just like my dad) and now a sports caster? But, this time it felt different, it felt like this was the thing that I was most passionate about, like a dream job. We will write a custom essay sample on Que Sera Sera or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Now to the second reason of why I want to be an ESPN analyst, and that’s make lots of money. I really don’t know why I have such a strong craving for money, is it because I like to buy things, I want a big house? I just don’t truthfully know why I love money so much. Then, I started thinking why I really liked money. So I started thinking about that I could buy season tickets to basketball and football games, I can but lots of DVD’s, pay all the bills and buy all the groceries I want, just by talking at a table on T.V. My third reason for wanting to be an ESPN Analyst is because it is something that I am passionate about. If you didn’t you, I’m a die-hard sports fan and will do anything to watch any type of game; whether if I’m live at the game myself or if I’m watching it on T.V. or just watching is at home. Another thing that I like about this, is that you just talk about it after the game and maybe go in the locker room and create an inside story of what’s going on behind the scenes if you want call it that. The fourth reason is something I mentioned early also is, you don’t have to work as hard as other regular jobs. It think part of that half of that statement is true because, sure on camera you just talk about sports but, off camera, you do as much work as any other regular person that works in an office. You have to look up stories on other sport sites; you have to hunt down newspapers, you have to call team’s mangers, owner and player and you have to check the sources so a company doesn’t sue you. Yeah, it’s hard isn’t it? So, at the end of the day, I think that being a sportscaster is my dream job, but no one said it would be easy.

In answer to some request for the number of comments, staff is also able to receive so many comments from a range of consumer based advocacy people along with industry representatives. At the same time, the workshop with title The Internet of Things based on Privacy and Security is the present connected time is established in 2013, and it further consist of many academic, consumer based advocates and representatives Tools used The devices employed in the concept are poised to become pervasive by nature in the lives of people than any mobile phones and will further have access to the most sensitive data which is also personal like social security numbers or other personal information. Also, when the number gets multiplied, different security-based concerns rise on specific devices like a mobile phone which can rapidly turn some concerns while considering many multiple devices in the interconnected business or home (Miorandi et al., 2012). When the chair of Federal Trade Commission is setup, it gives a warning lately that small size along with limited amount of processing power of some connected devices has the potential to limit the overall usage of different security measures as well as encryptions. It can also be challenging to completely patch the overall flaws in low-cost products (Miorandi et al., 2012). The development of connected devices will also be able to spike over the next many years as per the number which is collected by many companies like Cisco Systems. The concept of Internet of Things security does not present a foggy kind of future anymore on issues as more similar devices are being introduced in the market as well as in people lives. Technology which helps in self-parking to other home based automation systems can be wearable with other smart devices. In future, it is expected to have so many sensors along with many devices that people will be unable to sense it properly (Da Xu et al., 2014). There are so many issues which surround around the security of mobile and are also a challenge in a current era of always being connected devices. It is also important to think about other greater challenges that any business will have, for instance, the connected devices of IoT and it many gets even more challenging and difficult. As and when, a concept of IoT evolves, there will be so many people along with connected devices and each one shown a potential option in IT-based infrastructure and company or personal data (Da Xu et al., 2014). Summary of findings There are so many threats which come under IoT, and it can be divided into three broad categories which are privacy, security as well as safety. Some experts claim that threat of security at Internet of Things are very broad in concept and also has the potential to cripple the whole systems further. Because the infrastructure components of IoT will have some critical impact and it will also be presented as an ideal target for the nation as well as industrial based espionage. It also consists of the complete denial of the other attacks and services. Another important area of concern is about privacy with the confidential information that can reside potentially on different networks and also likely to target for some cyber-based criminals (Jia et al., 2012). It is also important to keep in mind that while testing needs for security it is important that IoT is still very much exist in the category of work in progress. There are some other things that are also connected to the Internet in present time and will be seen as a rise and the advent of context based sharing of data and automatic actions of the machine which is based on the information. At the same time, the concept of IoT is based on the allocation in a virtual form to many physical objects as it grows different kinds of virtual presences. It will start to communicate as well as exchange many types of contextual data, and the machine will make important decisions which are entirely based on contextual devices (Bandyopadhyay and Sen, 2011). Impact in real life The recent examples consist of people who were researching hacked in two cars and disable the brakes in a wireless format. Also, they turned off the light plus switched the brakes. It happened way beyond the control of the driver, and in another case, a luxurious yacht was lured off course by practitioners who hacked the GPS signal that was being used for navigation. There are some home control hubs which are very vulnerable, and it permits the attackers to easily change or tamper with the concept of heating, power, lighting and other door locks. There are a number of other cases also which consist of industrial based control systems that are being hacked with the help of different wireless network along with sensors (Roman et al., 2013). The examples already show the hacked TV sets and another kind of video cameras along with child monitoring system that has raised some privacy issues and also hacked different power based meters which till date has been utilized to steal the electric power. It can also be said that a single worm that has the potential to comprise a huge number of different internet-based connected devices and at the same time, amass these devices into more of botnet kind of concept of a similar kind. It is important to remember here that it is just not based on value or any power of the devices that every bad guy or hacker is looking for (Roman et al, 2013). It is also related to overall bandwidth which can be accessed and used in a more DDoS manner. Conclusion The concept of security requires being manufactured on the foundation of many IoT systems with rigorous checks on validity, further authentication, verification of data and the data required to get encrypted. At the basic level of application, development of software companies require being better at writing a different kind of codes which are stable as well as resilient by nature. It is important that these systems are also trustworthy along with ideal standards for code development. When the complete system communicates with one another, it is important to agree on many kinds of standards which are safe as well as valid by nature (Sicari et al., 2015). Physical Therapy Scholarship Contest Example Essay

Physical Therapy Scholarship Contest Example Essay Free Online Research Papers Physical Therapy Scholarship Contest Example Essay In 2001 a friend of mine introduced me to the martial art, Ba Gua Zhang. I had always been interested in martial arts and so I began studying Gao style Ba Gua with Jeff Jones here in Atlanta. I’m not exactly sure what my initial motivation for starting Ba Gua had been; I believe it was a combination of intrigue with the arts and a desire to reduce stress, but by studying with Jeff I got a lot more than I had bargained for. It is in studying with Mr. Jones that I ultimately came to be interested in Oriental Medicine. Mr. Jones takes a holistic approach to teaching Ba Gua. He teaches not only the fighting form and application of the art, but also explains the health benefits of the forms, massage techniques, and Qi Gong exercises. His teaching has led me to acquire a valuable understanding of myself, and in engaging in Ba Gua I have developed an important awareness of my body. By this I mean that I have made a shift from feeling like a mind that walks around in a shell of a body, to a mindful being that is intimately connected to her physical body. As in Yoga, where one’s attention is intently focused on feeling, experiencing, and personally understanding what is happening when positioned in a specific asana, Jeff urges his students to be as attentive and â€Å"in one’s body† when practicing Ba Gua. I am beginning to understand my own body on a deeper level, and not necessarily by what I am being told, but by what I am discovering for myself. I attempt to understand what goes on within me as I move through the forms, use breathing techniques, and meditate. This new found interest in the dynamic relationship of my mind, body, and soul has led me to further investigation. Since I began studying Ba Gua I have read many books on martial arts, in particular the internal styles, many of which comment on aspects of Oriental Medicine. I have also read books on Taoism and holistic health. I began attending a Qi Gong class (Da Dao Chan) offered in the area, run biweekly, and do some yoga and weight training. All of this practice and investigation for personal purposes evolved into an interest in the possibility of pursuing a career that is in some way related to these interests. During my attendance at Georgia State University I took advantage of the free career counseling made available by the school. I spent the summer of 2003 taking personality and interest tests, and meeting with a career counselor on a weekly basis. With the help of the test results and the counseling sessions, I narrowed my career search to psychology and physical therapy. However, I was still not quite happy with the idea of being a psychologist or physical therapist. It wasn’t until September of 2003, when I went to visit an Oriental Doctor, that I considered the field of Oriental Medicine as an option. I was impressed by his keen perception as well as the effectiveness of the treatment. It seems that Oriental Medicine would be a perfect match for me in that it is a culmination of all my interests. My interest in the physical therapy of the body would be met in the nature of Tui na. I also expect that my interest in Psychology would be met because of the field’s intimate consideration of the human emotions and psyche in diagnosing and treating illness. Furthermore, Edgewood would provide a great environment to further investigate and understand Taoist thought and the dynamic nature of Qi. Management - Report on RSE plc - Essay Example After the evaluation, it has been concluded that the marketing division is mainly responsible for the overall planning, promotion, and sales of RSE products. In addition, the responsibility of the human resource department in making necessary changes has been indicated. The following set of recommendations is given to address the current management problems of RSE: take advantage of large opportunities for overseas expansion minimize the threat of economic crisis and trading costs launch an integrated marketing system create general integration and linkage across organizational systems enhance communication networks address organizational weaknesses employ an IT-based human resource system 1. Introduction In the face of the economic crisis, the Strategic Operations of Richard Shaw Enterprises (RSE) could only see the light in the future through expanding the business overseas. Over the last years until its initial public offering in 2006, RSE has been faring well in the UK Stock Exch ange market -- trading at 233p per share, and maintaining a decent profit margin. It had also significantly improved its brand image -- the company is increasingly acknowledged. In fact, its owner and founder, Richard Shaw, was recognized as the â€Å"Businessman of the Year† by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in 2000. However, like any other businesses, RSE is not spared from the threat of the economic crisis. Along with this, company is also experiencing serious problems in its business processes primarily in the Marketing Division. In addition, there is also an ongoing problem with regard to the integration and information linkage between the domestic and foreign offices, as well as across the major divisions in the organization. With these issues, this paper seeks to accomplish three things: (1) to report the current status of RSE’s business processes and its emerging business needs, (2) to present detailed information systems solutions that would addre ss such needs, and (3) to explain the relevance of implementing information systems and Internet applications to current business operations of RSE. 1.1 Background (Current Business Processes) Richard Shaw Enterprises (RSE) was founded in the year 1994, and was named after its owner Richard Saw. The company went public by the year 2006, and it has remained competitive in spite of the recession, and the high costs involved with the organization's trading operations. At present, RSE is situated in different locations, namely: Maidstone (Kent), Rome, Paris, as well as in Lagos, Nigeria. It is currently operating in two main trading strands: (1) buy and sell, and customization of shop fixtures, fittings, business machines, and other company equipment, and (2) auctioning of bankrupt office equipment, fixtures, and fittings. To top it all, RSE is equipped with technologically innovative information systems. In order to assist marketing managers in carrying out their functions, particularl y in closely monitoring product selling and distribution, the collateral reporting systems was installed. Moreover, in 1995, a computerized system for the payment of staff salaries was also installed. This was followed by the computerization of sales and purchase order processing in the year 2003. 2. Findings (Current Business Processes) Data used to present these findings were obtained from RSEs strategic review of operations in

Rock 'n' Roll High School Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Rock 'n' Roll High School - Essay Example Rather, the term might describe a social situation of excessive libertarianism or direct democracy, as we find in the writings of John Cage. Thus, systematic anarchy would add more features to such a social situation. Systematic anarchy cannot lead to chaos, simply because it is systematic. The systemized social state of direct democracy or excessive libertarianism would definitely provide enough room for the individuals to express themselves. The systematic anarchy would culminate at freedom of expression and action in a social state that would lack institutional rigidity but appreciate the good sides of human character. In the context of Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, this is the very social situation of a handful of hilarious students. They break conventions, do things that they should not, challenge our regular thinking, and explore a libertarian environment in the form of systematic anarchy. This systematic anarchy is not chaotic. Rather it is expressionist, combined with the flavors of realism, surrealism, and satire. The very plot of Rock ‘n’ Roll High School sets the backdrop of this certain kind of anarchy. In the Vince Lombardi High School, principals suffer from nervous breakdowns as the students of the school completely disregard education and love rock ‘n’ roll whole heartedly. Through a sequence of exciting and sometimes, funny events, these students invite the ‘Ramones’ (a rock band) and take over the control of their school. In response to this, they face criticism and pressure from their parents and teachers. The parents and teachers even move to police. Finally, in all this turmoil, the activities of the student lead to an explosive climax. Certain interesting scenes and sequences are created in the film. In the scene when the musical number â€Å"Do You Wanna Dance?† is set, we find the rock stars confused, even their instruments not plugged in, and the students jump and bounce all around in excitement and joy.
